Deep thought by my husband, Chris: “Flowers are just like really slow-moving fireworks.” Whoa. Yeah they are.

Chris’ random deep thought had me picturing the flowers in the movie Adaptaion (2002). At the film’s close, a camera is fixed on a Los Angeles street in the morning. Yellow flowers open and shut in the foreground as seven days are shown passing. In the background traffic flows, the lights come on at night, the flowers shake in the wind. It’s real purdy.
Adaptation is one of my favorite movies. If you haven’t seen it, then you really should. It was written by Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich) and Nicolas Cage plays Charlie Kaufman and his twin brother Donald Kaufman. Nicolas Cage ew? I know, but he’s great in this movie which is full of fascinating surprises.
